CDT successfully finished in Guangzhou

From August 21st to 29th the first IHM International CDT course[1] was hold successfully in Guangzhou at Sun Yat-sen University.

23 therapists from all over China attended this intensive course.

The interest and eggagement of the participants was enormous and the quality of course very high because of this.

In the European university course “Complex Decongestive Therapy” the student learns all relevant theoretical and practical knowledge to treat patients with lymphoedema.

In module 1-3 the student gets an overview of the medical-therapeutic diagnostic and the therapy of relevant clinical pictures of the lymphatic system and its symptomatology.

Theoretically the student knows the anatomical, physiological and pathological basics of the lymphatic system.

In practice the student knows the manual lymph drainage techniques on the intact lymphatic system.

The student learns the medical-therapeutically diagnostic and therapy of relevant clinical pictures of the lymphatic system, its symptomatology and clinical presentation.

The students are able to perform basic and complex examination and treatment techniques at the patient.

The graduation certificate will be from the University of Applied Sciences FH Joanneum Graz, Austria which gives the graduate the title “Complex Decongestive Therapist”.

National accreditation and job profile according to legal requirements has to be adapted for each country where the course is introduced.

European University Course “Complex Decongestive Therapy”

In the European university course “Complex Decongestive Therapy” the student learns all relevant theoretical and practical knowledge to treat patients with lymphoedema.

In module 1-3 the student gets an overview of the medical-therapeutic diagnostic and the therapy of relevant clinical pictures of the lymphatic system and its symptomatology.

Theoretically the student knows the anatomical, physiological and pathological basics of the lymphatic system.

Structure oft he Course:

The course consists of 3 modules:

  • Module 1: Principles of Lymphoedema I – 3 ECTS
  • Module 2: Principles of Lymphoedema II – 4,5 ECTS
  • Module 3: Lymphoedema Course Advanced – 4 ECTS

The total of 11,5 ECTS have to be succesfully completed to finish the course.

  • Module 4: Train the trainer program for selected candidates–14,5 ECTS.
  • Graduates are certified trainers of European University and will be entitled to teach module 1-3.

 

Academic Certificate

The graduation certificate will be from the University of Applied Sciences FH Joanneum Graz, Austria, which gives the graduate the title “Complex Decongestive Therapist”.

Entrance Criterias:

Candidates with the following pre-requisites are qualified to apply for the admission procedure:

  • Completed university studies in medicine or nursing science
  • or Diploma in nursing science
  • or diploma in physiotherapy

The candidate needs to be legally allowed to treat human patients.

 

Admission:

The admission criteria will be checked by the IHM and together with our academic partner the admission procedure will be processed.

 

Tuition fees:

The cost structure and the determination of the fee are depending on national structures and network partners.

Included are: National and international trainers, access to our e – learning platform, tutoring, study material, samples, seminar room and technical equipment.

Not included: travel costs, accommodation costs

 

Work load and mode of studies:

Module 1 can be completed either online or face-to-face.

Modules 2 and 3 have to be done face-to-face in Europe.

Concerning the workload, we are following the European Credit Transfer System.

1 ECTS point equals 25h workload for the student.

The overall 11,5 ECTS represent a total workload of approximately 285 hours of study for the course.

Between the modules 1-3 the student has to complete practice periods where he/she needs to treat specific indications given by the university.

The student is obligated to prepare case reports for examination.

Language of teaching is English.
